Eugenio Menegon is an Associate Professor of History and Director of Undergraduate Studies at Boston University's Department of History. He specializes in Chinese-Western relations, Chinese religions, and intellectual history, with a focus on late imperial and modern China. His research explores intercultural interactions, missionary activities, and global networks in early modern Asia.
Education:

Research Interests:
Menegon's work centers on the history of European missionaries in China, particularly their roles in cultural exchange, translation, and religious adaptation. He examines how Catholic communities in Fujian province interwove local practices with Christianity, and how Europeans navigated Qing court politics through skill-based diplomacy. Recent projects include analyzing daily life and political networks of European residents in Beijing during the 17th-18th centuries, supported by grants from the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation and fellowships at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study and Boston College.
