Eugenio La Rocca

Eugenio La Rocca is a Full Professor of Greek and Roman Archaeology and Art History at the University of Rome since 2000. He previously held positions at the University of Pisa (1990-1993) and the University of Siena (1986-1987). His career includes extensive administrative roles in cultural heritage, including serving as Director of the Capitoline Museums of Rome (1981-1986) and Superintendent of Antiquities and Fine Arts in Rome (1993-2008).

His scholarship focuses on the figurative culture of Greece and Rome, blending archaeological research with art historical analysis. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to understanding ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

La Rocca has been recognized as an Ordinary Member of the Academy of Europe since 2009. His leadership in cultural institutions underscores his contributions to heritage preservation and public engagement with classical antiquity.
