Eugene Vydrin is a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. He earned a BA in English from NYU, followed by MA, MPhil, and PhD degrees in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University.
Research examines European/North American literature through lenses of place representation and medium specificity. Specializations include: modernist aesthetic doctrines, British detective fiction's relationship to national identity, and representations of local history. Current projects analyze lingering pasts in verbal/visual artworks and site-specific creative modeling.
Honors include the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2020) and Adviser of Distinction Award (2013). Previous teaching experience includes Barnard College's First-Year English program.
