Etienne Perret is a Full Professor in Electrical Engineering at the University of Grenoble Alpes, affiliated with Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble INP) and the LCIS laboratory. He leads the ORSYS Research Group (2015-2022) and has held prominent roles such as Head of the Embedded Systems Department at Grenoble INP – Esisar. His research focuses on wireless communication systems, particularly backscatter modulation and RFID technologies.

His research interests span electromagnetic modeling, millimeter/submillimeter-wave applications, and advanced computer-aided design techniques for RFID and chipless RFID systems. He has contributed to over 250 publications and holds multiple patents with 4,500+ citations.
Scientific awards include the IEEE MTT-S Outstanding Young Engineer Award (2019), Prix Espoir IMT (2020), and Grand Prix de l’Electronique Général Ferrié (2021). He received the ERC Consolidator Grant (2017) for the 5-year, €2 million ScattererID project.
