Eszter Boros
دانشیار · Early Transition Radiometal Chemistry
University of Wisconsin-Madisonمعرفی
Eszter Boros is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with an affiliate appointment in the Department of Medical Physics under the School of Medicine and Public Health. Her research bridges inorganic chemistry and biomedical applications, focusing on radiometal chemistry for cancer imaging, lanthanide luminescence, and siderophore-based antibiotic development. She employs physical inorganic chemistry and spectroscopic methods to explore these areas.
Education
- BSc/MSc from the University of Zurich (2003-2007)
- PhD from the University of British Columbia (2007-2011)
Research Focus
Her work in Early Transition Radiometal Chemistry investigates Ti(IV), Zr(IV), Sc(III), and Y(III) for PET imaging and radiotherapy. She pioneers lanthanide luminescence using Cherenkov radiation to overcome short-wave excitation barriers. Additionally, she develops siderophore-antibiotic conjugates (sideromycins) with Ga(III) to combat antibiotic resistance.
Funding & Recognition
- NIH R01
- DOE Lanthanide-based Imaging Probes
- NSF Career
- NIH R21
- Sloan Fellowship
- Dreyfus Foundation Grant
Labs & Teams
She leads the Boros Lab at UW-Madison, which integrates interdisciplinary approaches to metal-based biomedical imaging and therapy. The lab’s work spans in vitro validation, in vivo pharmacokinetics, and translational applications for cancer and infectious diseases.
