Esther Maier

Dr. Esther Maier serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the School of Creative Industries at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), having joined the institution in 2023 after previously working at the Lazaridis School of Business at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Her scholarly work focuses on:

• Creativity and innovation in organizational contexts
• How calculative practices shape creative projects
• Temporal complexities in organizing innovation
• Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks
• Media's role in framing corporate scandals

Dr. Maier brings substantial industry experience to her academic work, having spent 20 years in corporate finance within the media and entertainment sector, where she held executive positions ranging from VP of Finance to Chief Financial Officer.
