Dr Essam Joura is a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Hull, affiliated with the Hull University Business School within the Faculty of Business, Law and Politics. With 10 years of academic experience, he specializes in corporate governance, executive remuneration, and corporate innovation. His qualifications include a BA in Accounting (Misurata University), MSc in Finance and Banks (Libyan Academy), and a PhD in Finance from the University of Hull. He holds a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PCAP).
Research interests focus on executive compensation dynamics, managerial power influence, and corporate governance mechanisms. His work examines how Say-on-Pay policies affect firm efficiency and strategic decisions in Anglo-Saxon economies. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate Financial Management and postgraduate Risk Management and Valuation courses.
Recent research explores the interplay between CEO personal traits, governance structures, and firm outcomes. He supervises PhD topics in executive pay, corporate governance, and firm innovation. Professional development includes academic practice certifications and active involvement in the Accounting, Finance and Economics research group.
