Dr Esa Aldegheri is a Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow's School of Education, holding a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship. Her work focuses on refugee integration, narrative research, and border studies, with a particular emphasis on Scotland as a case study. She previously contributed to evaluating the New Scots Refugee Integration Strategy with the Scottish Government and third-sector organizations.
Educational Background: Esa completed an ESRC-funded PhD analyzing narrative exchanges between forced migrants and host communities in Edinburgh and Torino. Her interdisciplinary research bridges academia with creative writing and community projects.
Research Interests: She explores how narratives and borders shape refugee integration, combining qualitative methods with creative practices. Key areas include migration policy, community education, and the intersection of travel writing with freedom and displacement themes.
Publications & Grants: Her recent works include an edited travel anthology (2025), a policy report on refugee integration (2022), and a conference presentation on education in conflict zones (2021). She has been awarded a Leverhulme Fellowship (2024–2028) and an ESRC PhD scholarship.
