Ernesto Galvão

Ernesto Galvão is a Research Scientist and Group Leader at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), leading the Quantum and Linear-Optical Computation group. He is currently on leave from the Institute of Physics at Fluminense Federal University (Brazil), where he has been faculty since 2006.

Galvão specializes in quantum computation, particularly photonic implementations of quantum computers. His work focuses on identifying resources for quantum advantage, characterizing quantum systems via coherence, nonlocality, and contextuality, and collaborating with experimental groups to validate quantum protocols.

Recent publications emphasize quantum optical networks, photonic indistinguishability tests, and resource theories for quantum advantage. He has pioneered experimental validations of boson sampling and coherence witnesses in programmable photonic processors.

Galvão leads the Quantum and Linear-Optical Computation group at INL, integrating theoretical and experimental approaches to advance quantum information processing via photonic systems.
