Ernesto Ballesteros is a Practicing Faculty member and serves as the Cybersecurity Advisor for the Capitol Region of Texas under the Department of Homeland Security's CISA. Previously, he was the State Cybersecurity Coordinator and Chairman of the Texas Cybersecurity Council at the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR). He holds an Assistant Professor appointment in Computer Information Systems and Security (CISS) at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), where he also directed the Center for Information Assurance Management and Leadership. Ballesteros earned a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law, alongside a B.S. and M.S. in CISS from OLLU, an NSA/DHS-designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE). He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and holds CompTIA Security+ certification.
