Erique Zhang (they/she) is an Assistant Professor at the School of Communication, Simon Fraser University. Their work focuses on transgender representation in digital publics, particularly in fashion, beauty, and entertainment media, examining intersections of race, gender, and trans identity.

Their research develops a trans femme of color critique of media, exploring how racialization and colonial processes shape portrayals of trans womanhood. Articles analyze topics like femme aesthetics in fashion, labor in transition vlogs, and applied transgender policy.
Zhang co-founded the Center for Applied Transgender Studies (CATS) in 2021 and serves as an affiliate of the Center for Critical Race and Digital Studies. Their teaching includes courses on Technologies of Gender & Sexuality and Consumer Culture and Promotional Media.
