معرفی
Erin Saupe is a Professor of Palaeobiology at the University of Oxford and a Tutor at St Hugh's College. Her research focuses on understanding interactions between life and environments across geological time, particularly through conservation palaeobiology and extinction selectivity studies. She leads the Saupe Lab, which integrates fossil records with modern ecological data to address biodiversity conservation challenges under climate change.
- Education:
- PhD (Hons) Earth Sciences (Palaeobiology), University of Kansas (2014)
- MSc (Hons) Earth Sciences (Palaeobiology), University of Kansas (2009)
- BA (4.0/4.0 GPA) in Natural Sciences, College of St. Benedict (2007)
Her research interests include latitudinal diversity gradients, biogeographical factors influencing species distribution, and the application of deep-time data to modern conservation efforts. She employs methods like environmental reconstruction, quantitative modeling, and spatial simulations.
- Scientific Awards:
- 2024: Schuchert Award, Paleontological Society
- 2023: Edward P. Bass Distinguished Visiting Environmental Scholar
- 2022: Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists (Life Sciences Honouree)
- 2021: Leverhulme Prize
Dr. Saupe actively mentors students and researchers in macroevolutionary and macroecological studies. Her lab’s work bridges palaeobiology and modern ecology, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to global biodiversity challenges.
