Erin McGlothlin is the Gloria M. Goldstein Professor of Holocaust Studies, a Professor of German and Jewish Studies, and Vice Dean of Undergraduate Affairs at Washington University’s College of Arts & Sciences. Her leadership spans curriculum development, student life, and postgraduate success, emphasizing the transformative power of liberal arts education.

Her research focuses on Holocaust literature and film, German-Jewish literature, narrative theory, memory studies, and the graphic novel. She explores ethical dilemmas in Holocaust representation, perpetrator trauma, and the interplay of memory and narrative.
McGlothlin’s publications include monographs and co-edited volumes on Holocaust narratives, digital media’s impact on German studies, and the construction of testimony. Her 2021 book earned the 2023 Sybil Halpern Milton Book Prize, a first for a non-historian.
