Erin Finn

Erin Finn, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She serves as Core Faculty for the UNC Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program and is Co-director of the UNC Internal Medicine Longitudinal POCUS Curriculum and POCUS elective.

Dr. Finn's research focuses on Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), medical education, ultrasound-guided procedures, physical exam skills, and resident education and mentorship. She has been instrumental in developing comprehensive POCUS curricula for residents at UNC, including creating the Internal Medicine Longitudinal POCUS Curriculum during the pandemic. Her work spans teaching POCUS sessions for medical students, pediatric hospitalists, family medicine residents, and various specialist fellows across multiple departments.

Dr. Finn has directed Physical Exam Teaching Rounds and co-created UNC's internal medicine intern POCUS curriculum. She currently co-directs bi-weekly longitudinal intern POCUS curriculum and the POCUS elective while teaching ultrasound-guided procedures on the medicine procedure service. As a member of the SHM POCUS SIG Executive Council, she collaborates with hospitalists and specialists on multiple POCUS research and procedural quality improvement projects at UNC.

She maintains an active scholarly profile with publications spanning clinical medicine, molecular biology, and medical education, demonstrating her interdisciplinary approach to advancing ultrasound applications in medical practice and training.
