Erin E. Stache is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Princeton University, affiliated with the School of Engineering and Applied Science. Her research focuses on catalysis, synthesis, and sustainable materials science, particularly in developing photothermal strategies for polymerization, recycling plastics to commodity chemicals, and advancing sustainable polymer economies. She leads the Stache Lab, which integrates organic chemistry, photochemistry, and materials science.
- Education:
- PhD in Chemistry (unspecified institution, inferred from career trajectory).
Her research interests emphasize overcoming inefficiencies in conventional chemical processes, such as using photothermal conversion to replace bulk heating in synthesis. This work has led to innovations in depolymerizing commercial plastics and designing novel monomers for advanced materials.
Awards & Grants:
- NSF CAREER Award (2023)
- DOE Early Career Award (2023)
- Bayer Early Excellence in Science Award (2023)
Her lab’s grants and collaborations focus on sustainable chemistry and energy-efficient synthesis. She advises students in polymer chemistry and catalytic processes. The Stache Lab is also involved in developing photothermal agents and catalysts for industrial applications.
Labs/Teams: The Stache Lab at Princeton’s Frick Laboratory (261 & A87) collaborates across disciplines to address global sustainability challenges through cutting-edge chemical innovation.
