Dr. Erin Cutts is an Early Career Research Fellow in the Physics of Life and Quantitative Biology at the School of Biosciences, University of Sheffield. Her research focuses on understanding how SMC complexes and Topoisomerases regulate DNA organization during cell division, employing multidisciplinary approaches including biochemistry, single-molecule assays, and structural modeling.
Education & Career:
- Wellcome Trust Structural Biology D.Phil., University of Oxford (2012-2016)
- Post-doctoral Training Fellow, Institute of Cancer Research, London (2016-2020)
- Post-doctoral Researcher, MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences, London (2020-2024)
Research Interests:
- Chromatin organizing machines (condensin complexes)
- TOP2A topoisomerase mechanisms
- Interplay between DNA looping and segregation
- Multiscale biophysical analysis of enzyme regulation
Labs & Collaborations: Leads the Cutts Lab, which integrates structural biology, biochemistry, and advanced microscopy to study chromatin dynamics. Actively seeks students and postdocs for interdisciplinary projects.
