Erika Zettby is a postdoctoral researcher at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) and the Division of Children's and Women's Health (BKH) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her work focuses on pediatric neurocognition, particularly in extremely preterm infants.
Her research centers on early intervention programs for preterm infants and their families. She developed and evaluated the Stockholm Preterm Interaction-Based Intervention (SPIBI), which involves ten home visits during the first year at home to promote positive parent-child interaction and support long-term child development. Currently, she is replicating early intervention models to strengthen parental sensitivity to infant communication and creating teacher-focused initiatives for prematurely born students. Her work addresses critical post-discharge challenges including parental anxiety, family dynamics, and educational adaptation.
Erika is an active member of the Young Survivor Unit (YoSU), which investigates developmental trajectories of children with early-life serious illnesses and designs interventions to enhance long-term functional outcomes. Her research bridges clinical neonatology, family support systems, and educational frameworks to holistically address the needs of preterm infants and their caregivers through evidence-based practices.
