Erika Siregar is a PhD researcher at the University of Sheffield's School of Information, Journalism and Communication. She is also a Data Scientist and co-founder of RLadies Jakarta, a community promoting R programming for data science. Her work focuses on bridging data gaps through big data analytics and machine learning.
Education details include a Bachelor's degree in Computational Statistics from the Institute of Statistics in Jakarta, Indonesia, and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Old Dominion University in Virginia, USA.
Research interests revolve around leveraging big data and computational methods to monitor MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and economic events in Indonesia. Techniques such as predictive modeling, natural language processing, and information retrieval are central to her work, aiming to support evidence-based policymaking. She also maintains expertise in statistical methodologies and programming with R and Python.
