معرفی
Erika Henell is a PhD researcher at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research, working within the DFG-funded TRR181 project under subproject M5: "Reducing Spurious Mixing and Energetic Inconsistencies in Realistic Ocean-Modeling Applications." She collaborates closely with Dr. Knut Klingbeil and Prof. Dr. Hans Burchard in the working group "Processes in Estuaries and Coastal Seas."
- Education
- 2018–2020: Master of Science in Atmosphere–Climate–Continental Landmasses, University of Grenoble Alpes, France
- 2015–2018: Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, Stockholm University, Sweden
Her research focuses on applying isohaline water mass transformation frameworks to quantify diahaline mixing and exchange flows in marginal seas like the Baltic Sea and non-tidal estuaries. This work addresses energetic inconsistencies in ocean modeling and contributes to understanding energy transfers between atmosphere and ocean.
Key trends in her recent publications include numerical modeling of marginal sea variability, water mass transformation theory, and mixing-driven overturning circulation in estuarine systems. She has presented her work at major conferences such as the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Coastal Ocean Dynamics and the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics General Assembly (IUGG).
