Erik Thys is a Lecturer in Clinical Psychiatry at the University Psychiatric Center KU Leuven, affiliated with KU Leuven University. He is a member of the Leuven Centre for Health Humanities and serves as an observer in the POC Criminological Sciences and POC Family and Sexological Sciences councils. His research focuses on stigma reduction in mental health, the intersection of art and psychiatry, psychosis care optimization, and ethical issues surrounding euthanasia for psychiatric patients.
Thys teaches a course titled 'Seksuele psychologie: empirische en psychodynamische perspectieven op seksuele ontwikkeling' (Sexual Psychology: Empirical and Psychodynamic Perspectives on Sexual Development).
