معرفی
Dr. Erik Tellgren is a Researcher at the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Science within the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oslo. He serves as a supervisor for computational science projects and pioneered the LONDON program—the first quantum-chemical software for molecules in strong magnetic fields.
His educational background:
- Master's thesis at Linköping University, Sweden, on relativistic effects on excited states in molecules
- PhD at the University of Oslo on computational methods for periodic systems and magnetic effects
Tellgren's research centers on quantum-chemical methods with three core themes: development of numerical methods and software implementations; effects of weak and strong magnetic fields on chemical bonding and molecular properties (including symmetry breaking); and mathematical aspects of density-functional theory adaptations for magnetic fields. His work bridges rigorous functional analysis with pragmatic physical modeling.
He led an independent project (2015–2019) on magnetic-field-induced symmetry breaking and currently supervises the project "Chemistry Development of density-functional methods utilizing tensor densities." His methodology integrates physical/chemical modeling, numerical analysis, and programming, with recent expansion into mathematical foundations.
Affiliated with the Hylleraas Centre for Quantum Molecular Science, Tellgren's research remains active in advancing computational tools for unexplored magnetic field regimes.
