Erik Grönvall is an Associate Professor at the Digital Design department, IT University of Copenhagen, and has led the Co-Design Research Group since 2021. His work bridges Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), focusing on Participatory Design and Service Design for healthcare and public sectors.
Research Interests:
- Technology integration in everyday life
- Participatory Design for organizational change
- Co-design with vulnerable populations
- Digital public services and municipal innovation
- Shape-changing interfaces and tangible interaction
- Self-care technologies and telehealth
Recent Projects include LinLabs (2022–2026) for Swedish municipal innovation and CoCare (2017–2020) in social care. He has secured funding from Innovation Fund Denmark and Danish Agency for Institutions and Educational Grants.
Scientific Awards:
- European Social Services Awards 2023 for contributions to social care innovation
Teaching includes Co-Design and Physical Computing at ITU, with prior courses in Service Design and Python Programming. He served on hiring committees for Creative Computing (2024) and edited journals like Interaction Design and Architecture(s) and Personal and Ubiquitous Computing.
