Erick Ananga

Erick Ananga is an Associate Professor of Instruction at the School of Geosciences, University of South Florida. His academic journey includes roles as Assistant Professor at East Central University and Adjunct Assistant Professor at USF. He holds a PhD in Geography and Environmental Science from USF (2015), an M.A. in Politics and International Development from the University of East Anglia (2006), and a B.A. in International Development Studies (2004), also from UEA.

Ananga's research focuses on community participation theory in urban water resource management, bridging social sciences and environmental policy. He employs mixed-methods approaches (surveys, case studies) to explore how citizen involvement impacts water project outcomes in resource-scarce nations. His work emphasizes sustainable urban water schemes, gender equity in governance, and development policy.

His teaching spans environmental regulations, watershed management, and interdisciplinary environmental thought. Courses like 'Perspectives of Environmental Thought' integrate disciplines like ecology, politics, and urban planning to address global challenges.

Ananga has published extensively on themes such as gendered participation in water governance, electricity's role in women's welfare, and community-based water management efficacy. His research highlights systemic barriers to equitable development in Africa and emerging economies.
