Erica Moura is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communications at Simmons University, serving as Student-Driven Media Director and Journalism Track Director. She is an award-winning journalist with Emmy nomination and three Telly Awards for her impactful reporting on LGBTQ+ youth in foster care, veterans' reintegration, and healthcare technology. Her career spans roles at the Boston Herald, where she produced multimedia content including Herald Radio, and coverage of major events like the Boston Marathon bombings and Whitey trial.
Education: BA from Simmons University and MA from Emerson College. She co-launched Simmons Radio during her undergraduate years, which later won Intercollegiate Broadcasting System awards for best spot news coverage and best streaming station. Courses taught include Media Writing, Radio Operations, Broadcast Technology, and Digital Storytelling.
Her work bridges traditional and digital journalism, emphasizing multimedia storytelling and social justice issues. Recent focus areas include leveraging technology in reporting while maintaining ethical standards. She mentors students through hands-on projects and interdisciplinary collaborations.
