Eric Waclawik is a Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), affiliated with the Faculty of Science and School of Chemistry & Physics. His research focuses on semiconductor nanocrystals, quantum dots, and plasmonic nanostructures, bridging materials science, spectroscopy, and photonics. He leads a team investigating controlled synthesis of nanocrystals and their applications in photocatalysis and nonlinear optics. Waclawik has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and supervised 24 HDR students, with three recipients of QUT's outstanding thesis award. His work spans collaborations with institutions in China, Italy, Germany, and the UK.
Education includes a PhD in gas-phase molecular spectroscopy from Flinders University (1997), followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto and University of Exeter. He joined QUT in 2003 as a Lecturer, advancing to Associate Professor and later Professor.
Key grants include an ARC Discovery Project (DP200102652) and US Air Force funding for quantum dot-plasmon coupling research. His awards include the QLD International Fellowship (2010), supporting work on solar-powered nanosensors. Research projects emphasize photocatalytic applications, titania nanotubes, and energy transfer mechanisms in nanomaterial systems.
