Eric Thrane is a Professor at the School of Physics and Astronomy, Monash University. He is a Chief Investigator (CI) and Primary Chief Investigator (PCI) in multiple active and upcoming research projects focused on gravitational-wave astronomy and astrophysics.
Research Interests: Dr. Thrane's expertise spans gravitational-wave physics, cosmology, black hole dynamics, pulsar timing, and multi-messenger astronomy. His work contributes to understanding cosmic expansion, binary black hole systems, and the development of advanced gravitational-wave detection infrastructure.
Publications: In 2023, he co-authored studies on topics including the cosmic expansion history (GWTC-3), correlations in binary black hole systems, GWCloud data repositories, pulsar-timing methodologies, and Southern Hemisphere gravitational-wave observatory design. These reflect his leadership in gravitational-wave data analysis and astrophysical applications.
Projects: Dr. Thrane is involved in cutting-edge initiatives such as the Transdimensional Approach to Gravitational-Wave Astronomy (2024–2029), Australian Partnership in Advanced LIGO+ (2023–2026), and the OzGrav Cosmic Explorer Design Study (2021–2025). He also contributes to particle physics research with Hyper-K (2025–2028).
