Dr. Shattuck is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology specializing in infectious disease, inflammation, and immune function from evolutionary and biocultural perspectives. He directs the Social Health and Immunology Research (SHIRE) Group.
Research integrates psychoneuroimmunology and behavioral endocrinology to study sickness behavior, sleep, pain perception, disgust, and health disparities. Fieldwork includes collaborations with Indigenous Wixárika communities in Mexico and Hadzabe hunter-gatherers in Tanzania.
Education includes:

- PhD in Biological Anthropology (Indiana University, 2015)
