Dr. Eric Seabron is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture. He earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from Morgan State University (2013) and PhD in Materials Science from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2017), with postdoctoral training at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory as a National Research Council Fellow.
His research focuses on nanoscale electronic materials, including 1D/2D nanostructures, phase-change chalcogenides for reconfigurable RF electronics, and hyperbolic optical crystals. Expertise includes novel scanning probe microscopy techniques for quantum material characterization, terahertz metasurface design, and carbon nanotube purification methods. Current projects involve VO2-based tunable polarization converters and neuromorphic phase-change metamaterials.
Prior to academia, he worked as a Principal Microelectronic Engineer at Northrop Grumman. He leads multiple collaborations with national laboratories, including ARL and NRL projects on optical crystals and neuromorphic computing.
