Eric Schearer

Eric Schearer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University and a Staff Scientist at MetroHealth Medical Center's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He directs the Center for Human Machine Systems, focusing on neuroprosthetics for spinal cord injury patients.

His research develops neuroprostheses combining functional electrical stimulation (FES) and soft exosuits to restore arm mobility. Key projects include non-invasive command interfaces, caregiver-programmable stimulation patterns, and hybrid FES-robotic control systems for elbow/wrist movements.
