Eric Sample is a Professor in the Division of Communication & Creative Media at Champlain College. He teaches courses such as Fundamentals of Music, Film Scoring, and Synthesis & Sound Design, and oversees the college's recording studio. His expertise includes the music of the African diaspora, jazz arrangement, and music technology. He recently completed a global sabbatical researching diasporic music traditions in Cuba, Brazil, Kenya, Ghana, Gambia, and Senegal. Sample's educational background includes degrees from Vermont College of Fine Arts (MFA), SUNY Albany (BS), and Vermont College & Union Institute (MA). Beyond academia, he practices architecture and design, having designed the Champlain Music Studio and his parents’ cottage. He is currently collaborating on the 'Rock Hall Trilogy,' a cross-cultural musical project rooted in Jamaican culture.
