Eric S. Egge is a Professor of Mathematics at Carleton College. He previously served as Department Chair (2017–2020), Associate Dean of the College and Director of Undergraduate Research (2021), and Associate Provost (2022–2023). His research focuses on algebraic and enumerative combinatorics, including symmetric functions, pattern-avoiding permutations, and Legendre-Stirling numbers. He is also deeply involved in undergraduate research and problem-solving initiatives.
Education: B.A. in Mathematics from Carleton College (Northfield, MN), Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2000). Prior to Carleton, he was an Assistant Professor at Gettysburg College (2000–2005). He has supervised independent studies on advanced topics like symmetric functions and Lie algebras.
Administrative Roles: Currently holds the title of Associate Provost at Carleton College. Active in fostering undergraduate research and academic leadership.
