Eric L. Petersen is Regents Professor and Nelson-Jackson Chair Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, serving as Director of the Turbomachinery Laboratory. Research focuses on fundamental and applied aspects of combustion, propulsion, and energy systems.
Research interests span chemical kinetics, laser diagnostics for reacting flows, rocket propellants, and shock tube methodologies. Recent work examines ammonia combustion chemistry, laser-based diagnostics development, and ignition characteristics of fuels and lubricants.
Teaching includes FYS3500 (Introduction to nuclear and particle physics) and FYS4505 (Methods and instrumentation for nuclear and particle physics). Research supported by DoD, DOE, NSF, and industry partners.
