Eric Nyberg is a Professor at the Language Technologies Institute, part of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He has been actively involved in education and curriculum development, co-directing the institute.

Nyberg is renowned for his work in automatic text translation, information retrieval, and question answering systems, particularly as an original developer on IBM's Watson project. His teaching includes foundational courses like Natural Language Processing and advanced topics in Question Answering with Large Language Models.
His research interests span Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and Computational Linguistics. Nyberg has served as co-Director and Director of the Master of Computational Data Science (MCDS) Program from 2004 to 2022.
