Eric Mykhalovskiy is Professor of Sociology at York University specializing in health sociology, HIV/AIDS criminalization, and institutional ethnography. His critical research examines public health policy, socio-legal frameworks, and health equity issues.
His current work focuses on law reform and social justice advocacy related to HIV non-disclosure criminalization. Recent publications analyze pandemic governance, health equity during COVID-19, and decolonizing research practices. Methodologically, he advances institutional ethnography as an alternative sociological approach.
Professor Mykhalovskiy has served on boards including the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and Ontario Working Group on Criminal Law and HIV Exposure. His research informs policy debates on health rights, privacy in digital contact tracing, and Indigenous engagement in health research.
