Eric M Flake

Lt Col Eric Flake MD is an Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, holding his primary appointment in the School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics. He serves as Program Director of the Department of Defense's sole Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics Fellowship at Joint Base Lewis McChord and founded the JBLM Center for Autism Resource, Education and Services (CARES), the DoD's only dedicated Autism Center.

Dr. Flake graduated from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in 2001 and maintains dual board certification in Pediatrics and Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. His educational background reflects specialized military medical training through the USUHS pathway.

Research focuses prominently on Autism spectrum disorders and Developmental Delay within military contexts, with significant contributions to understanding Stress in Military Children and Psychosocial Effects of Deployment. He pioneers Child Assessment Technology innovations specifically designed for military child populations, emphasizing practical clinical applications in operational environments.

Professional leadership includes service on the Executive Council for the Uniformed Services Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics and membership on the Military Child Education Coalition's science advisory board, demonstrating deep institutional engagement with military pediatric health systems.
