Eric Hoffman is an Associate Dean for Research and Research Development and a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Binghamton University's School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Previously, he held roles including Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, Professor and Department Chair at George Washington University, and Director of the Center for Genetic Medicine at Children's National Medical Center. His research focuses on genetic basis of diseases, drug development, and neuromuscular disorders. He co-founded companies like ReveraGen BioPharma and AGADA BioSciences to advance therapies for genetic conditions.
- Education: PhD from Johns Hopkins University; BA from Gettysburg College
Research interests emphasize molecular genetics, drug development pathways, and neuromuscular disease mechanisms. He has pioneered work on exon-skipping therapies for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and developed non-steroidal treatments like vamorolone. His studies explore genetic modifiers influencing disease progression and biomarkers for therapeutic response.
Recent work includes clinical trials evaluating vamorolone's efficacy and safety, long-term glucocorticoid impacts, and genomic/proteomic analyses of dystrophinopathies. His interdisciplinary approach bridges academia, industry, and patient advocacy to accelerate translational research.
