Eric Hardy is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Loyola University New Orleans, affiliated with the Department of History. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from Georgia Tech (2011, 2007) and an M.A. (2004) and B.A. (2002) from the University of New Orleans. His expertise spans U.S. urban history, environmental history, and the history of technology.

Dr. Hardy’s research focuses on the interplay of technology, politics, and environmentalism in 20th-century American cities, exemplified by his forthcoming book Atlanta’s Water Wars: Technology, Politics, and Environmentalism, 1945–2005 (University of Pittsburgh Press). His work has been published in Technology and Culture, the Journal of Urban History, and through the American Planners Association Press. He specializes in interdisciplinary analysis of urban growth management and land-use policies.
Dr. Hardy mentors undergraduates in senior theses, internships, and interdisciplinary projects, emphasizing equity-based education. Prior to academia, he worked in public relations and advertising in New Orleans, contributing to his leadership in academic programming and institutional planning. He teaches courses like Global History I & II, Environmental Activism in U.S. History, and Technology and Society.
