Eric J. Fitzsimmons is an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering within the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering at Kansas State University. He holds the Hal and Mary Siegele Professorship in Engineering (2019–2024) and was recognized as the George Yeh - Carl and Mary Ice Keystone Research Scholar.
- Education: PhD (2011), MS (2007), and BS (2005) in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from Iowa State University.
Research interests include surface transportation safety and operations in rural and urban environments, with specific projects on highway countermeasure effectiveness, large traffic operational datasets, work zone policy guidance for Kansas, and roadside design evaluation. He has also conducted police officer safety and wellness research, funded by a U.S. Department of Justice Early Career Award (2018).
