Dr. Eric Dent is a Professor in the Department of Management at Florida Gulf Coast University's Lutgert College of Business. With a distinguished career spanning academia and industry, he brings practical experience as a former corporate vice president in financial services and computer scientist at IBM to his academic work. Dr. Dent holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Development, an MBA from The George Washington University, and both M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mathematics/Computer Science from Emory University. His educational background bridges technical expertise with deep organizational understanding.
His research interests span a remarkably diverse range of topics including Leadership, Change Management, Ethics, Organizational Behavior, Strategy, Workplace Spirituality, and Moral Re-Armament (MRA). Dr. Dent has pursued an eclectic research agenda ranging from luck in the workplace to American Indian entrepreneurship to workplace spirituality, with his primary current focus being on the historical movement of Moral Re-Armament and its potential for reconciliation in today's polarized world.
Dr. Dent's publications appear in top journals including the Journal of Management History, Organizational Dynamics, Academy of Management Learning and Education, British Journal of Management, and Science Communication. His recent scholarly work shows a strong historical perspective with particular emphasis on Moral Re-Armament and its applications in modern business contexts, while also exploring the intersections of ethics, leadership, and organizational behavior across multiple disciplines.

As a Board Certified Executive Coach and member of the Academy of Management, Dr. Dent brings practical consulting experience to Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. He teaches courses including Strategic Leadership, Change Management, Global Organizational Behavior and Ethics, Business Strategy, and Principles of Management. His significant grant funding includes a $225,000 Entrepreneurship Grant and several smaller research grants that support his interdisciplinary research agenda.
