Eric Delmelle is a Lecturer in the Department of City & Regional Planning and Urban Spatial Analytics at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a Visiting Associate Professor position at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (Department of Geography & Earth Sciences) and is a faculty associate at the University of Eastern Finland and Vrije Universiteit Brussels. He teaches Geospatial Data Science and Spatial Optimization.
Education: Eric holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography, an MS in Operations Research (all from SUNY Buffalo), and a Master in Biostatistics from Erasmus University (2022).
His research focuses on public health and geography intersections, including modeling vector-borne disease outbreaks, water contamination risk communication in rural areas, and geographic access to healthcare linked to residential mobility. He has been funded by the March of Dimes Foundations, CDC, NSF, and others. He serves as Editor for Cartography and GIScience.
