University of Arkansas for Medical Sciencesمعرفی
Eric C. Peterson, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine. His research focuses on developing medications to treat methamphetamine (METH) abuse using antibody-nanoparticle conjugates, AAV gene therapy, and targeting inflammatory pathways. He leads projects addressing both acute overdose treatment and chronic addiction management, with a focus on precision drug design and delivery systems.
Education: University of Arkansas (2002).
Research interests include:
- Antibody-nanoparticle conjugates for drug abuse therapy
- AAV-mediated gene transfer for persistent antibody delivery
- Neuroinflammatory mechanisms in addiction
Recent research support includes NIH grants (R01 DA039195-01, R01 DA036600, R21 DA041822) as PI/Co-I, focusing on methamphetamine and synthetic cathinone treatments. His work combines nanotechnology, immunotherapy, and molecular biology to address unmet clinical needs in addiction medicine.
Publications highlight advancements in antibody engineering, proteomics tools (e.g., proteiNorm), and preclinical testing of therapeutic candidates. Current efforts explore mitigating METH-induced inflammation to reduce relapse behaviors.
