Eric C. Alston is a Research Fellow and Scholar in Residence at the Finance Division of the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado Boulder. He also serves as Faculty Director for the Hernando de Soto Capital Markets Program and acts as a Research Associate with the Comparative Constitutions Project.

Current projects include National Science Foundation-funded research on Colorado's development using land records and census data, and a Templeton World Charity Foundation initiative measuring cryptocurrency market dynamics.
His publications address topics like blockchain governance, constitutional decentralization, and digital encryption privacy. Recent collaborations explore metaverse asset layers, penalty institutions in staked networks, and institutional complexity in economic systems.
