Dr. Eric Bowman is a Lecturer in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of St Andrews. His research focuses on the role of dopamine in reward-based learning, addiction, and decision-making processes, with expertise in neurophysiology, computational modeling, and behavioral analysis. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Psychology & Neuroscience from Princeton University and a B.Sc. in Psychology from the College of William & Mary.
Research Interests:
- Neuroscience of reward and motivation
- Neural basis of addiction
- Neuroeconomics and decision-making
- Selective attention mechanisms
- Animal models of behavioral and neural processes
Recent work explores behavioral biases in reward-based tasks and neural correlates of decision-making. He has received the honor of being elected to the International Neuropsychology Symposium (1999). His grants include projects on cognitive control circuits and optoelectronic neurophysiology devices. He collaborates on interdisciplinary research spanning neuroscience, psychology, and engineering.
