Eric Baer is an Assistant Senior Instructional Professor in the Department of Statistics and the Committee on Computational and Applied Mathematics (CCAM) at the University of Chicago. He also serves as Assistant Director of the Master of Science in Computational and Applied Mathematics (MCAM) program. His office is located in Jones Laboratory, Room 310.
His research spans applied mathematics with emphases on:
- Partial differential equations and calculus of variations
- Harmonic analysis and geometric measure theory
- Applications in fluid/solid mechanics and geometric inequalities
His publications (2013–2017) cluster around variational methods, geometric optimization, and PDE analysis, utilizing tools from functional analysis and mathematical physics. Grant support includes NSF Awards DMS-1204557 and DMS-1147523.
