معرفی
Erdoğan Şendemir serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at Bursa Uludag University Faculty of Medicine, a position he has held since 2002 following his promotion to full professor. His leadership extends to national and international anatomical societies, reflecting his significant contributions to medical education and research in Turkey.
His academic foundation includes:
- Bursa Anatolian High School graduation (1978)
- Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine degree (1985)
Professor Şendemir's research centers on experimental neuroanatomy and morphological sciences, demonstrated by his seminal 1990 thesis investigating catecholamine pathways in spinal cord-injured rats. His work bridges basic anatomical science with clinical applications, particularly through his leadership in the Turkish Society of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy. Current research priorities include morphological education methodologies and comparative anatomical studies, supported by his active role in the Trans European Pedagogic and Anatomical Research Group.
His professional impact is evident through key positions: founding member (1991) and long-term president/board member of the Turkish Society of Anatomy and Clinical Anatomy; Secretary of the European Federation of Experimental Morphology; active delegate in the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists; and member of the Trans European Pedagogic and Anatomical Research Group. He previously served four years as deputy chief physician at the university hospital.
International research collaborations define his career trajectory, including visiting scientist appointments at MIT's Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences (1994), Louisiana State University's Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology (2000), and Friedrich-Schiller University Jena's Institute of Anatomy (2003-2005).
