Eranga Ukwatta is Associate Professor in the Engineering Department at the University of Guelph, where he directs the AI Enabled Medical Image Analysis Lab. His research develops machine learning solutions for medical imaging challenges.
Research focuses on medical image segmentation, deep learning architectures, automated disease detection, and computational modeling of cardiac and renal systems. Current projects include automated segmentation of neonatal cerebral ventricles from 3D ultrasound and renal mass detection on MRI.
Teaching responsibilities include Medical Imaging Modalities and Signal Processing courses. Lab resources support medical image analysis research across multiple modalities including MRI, ultrasound, and histopathology.
