Dr. Jannis Epting is a scientific assistant at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences, University of Basel. His work focuses on hydrogeology and geothermal energy exploitation, particularly through groundwater modeling and climate change impact assessments.
Research Interests: Specializes in groundwater flow modeling, geothermal energy systems, and climate adaptation strategies for aquatic ecosystems. His projects examine thermal extremes in river systems, optimize shallow geothermal energy in urban environments, and assess deep groundwater heat transport in the Swiss Alps.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in multi-fidelity modeling approaches, thermal regime analysis, and sustainable subsurface energy utilization. He contributes to practical applications like drinking water pumping station optimization and earthquake preparedness for wastewater infrastructure.
