معرفی
Eoghan Christopher Hussey is a Researcher in the Department of History at the European University Institute, joining the institution in 2020 as part of their research cohort. His work bridges historical scholarship with contemporary debates about global perspectives and Eurocentric frameworks.
Hussey's research focuses on Modern History, Comparative History, and Transnational History, with particular interest in Popular Movements and Decentering Eurocentrism. His doctoral thesis, Awakening to modernity: a comparative analysis of popular movements in Ireland, Germany and Egypt in 1919, was supervised by Lucy Riall with Pieter Judson as second reader. This work examines how different societies responded to modernity through grassroots movements during a pivotal year in world history.
In 2021, Hussey co-authored the article For a fair(er) global history, contributing to scholarly efforts to develop more inclusive historical frameworks that move beyond traditional Eurocentric perspectives. His research demonstrates a commitment to creating equitable approaches to understanding global historical developments across different cultural contexts.
Hussey participates in the Decentering Eurocentrism research project at the EUI, which challenges Eurocentric narratives in historical scholarship. His work intersects with broader institutional research themes including 16th century studies and global history, reflecting both depth and breadth in historical inquiry.
