Enrico Fabrizio

Enrico Fabrizio is a Full Professor of Building Physics and Building Services at the Department of Energy of Politecnico di Torino. He leads the TEBE Research Group and is an Energy Manager, affiliated with the Future Urban Legacy Lab (FULL). His research focuses on zero-energy buildings, energy systems for buildings, and environmental control in agricultural structures. He holds a PhD in Energy Technologies from Politecnico di Torino and INSA de Lyon. As Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Sustainable Cities and Society, he contributes to academic publishing and coordinates the Italian Thermotechnical Committee's Working Group CT 272 on building energy systems. His work integrates numerical and experimental methods to optimize building energy performance, with applications in urban development, livestock housing, and greenhouse systems. He has authored over 240 publications, including 130 peer-reviewed papers, and has received the REHVA Young Scientist Award (2014).

Research interests include building simulation, sustainable urban legacy, and energy-efficient livestock housing. His recent work explores transitions to zero-power buildings and multi-energy systems. He has supervised multiple PhD students, including Lorenzo Pellizzon (in progress), Angela Amato (2020–2024), and Matteo Bilardo (2019–2023). His projects include the ENTRANCE smart-grid initiative (2025–2028) and the DiAGreen digital twin for greenhouses (2023–2025).

Awards include the 2014 REHVA Young Scientist Award. His editorial roles and conference participations highlight his leadership in building energy research. Teaching spans PhD programs in architectural heritage and master’s courses on energy-efficient building design, resilience to climate change, and Low-Carbon Architecture.
