Professor Engin Kara is a Professor of Macroeconomics at Cardiff University's Cardiff Business School, where he serves as Deputy Head of Economics (Research). He has held academic positions at Exeter University, Bristol University, and Ozyegin University in Istanbul, following his PhD from the University of York. His career includes research roles at the National Bank of Belgium and the European Central Bank.
Professor Kara's research focuses on models of sticky prices, heterogeneity in price stickiness, optimal monetary and fiscal policy, trend inflation, and the macroeconomics of aging populations. His work bridges theoretical macroeconomics with practical policy implications, particularly in understanding inflation dynamics and monetary policy transmission mechanisms.
His publication record includes articles in top economics journals such as the Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, and the Canadian Journal of Economics.
